The Avenue of Sphinxes led to the Temple of Luxor, which was built by Amenhotep III, and added on to by the famed Ramses II. The Egyptians called it the "southern sanctuary" or "opet."

I had the blessing of seeing Ms. Zaki perform twice during my stay in Cairo. Appearing at the beautiful Meridien Hotel, she performed for a solid hour with a 32-piece orchestra. Ms. Zaki was so elegant and gracious, even inviting us into her home. She will always be my favorite Oriental dancer...
